HEC's qualified Interpreter curriculum establishes the foundation for all healthcare and community interpreters through specialized training in healthcare, education, and community service interpretation.

provides a Language Proficiency Assessment (LPA) which can determine if a present or potential staff member, or a student can speak two languages proficiently enough to be qualified bilinguals.

Students get the opportunity to learn about social determinants of health, cultural competency, vulnerable populations, health disparities, the HOT guide, and public health careers.

Question, Persuade, and Refer (QPR) Gatekeeper Training

Health Education Center is providing QPR Gatekeeper training. "QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer — the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help. QPR can be learned in our Gatekeeper course in as little as one hour.
