Health Profession Student Scholarship
The Health Education Center (HEC) will award several $1000 scholarships to students studying in a health profession field. Scholarships are limited to students residing in Windham County or New London County, Connecticut. Students must plan to enter the health field and remain in Connecticut upon graduation to serve medically underserved or vulnerable populations. Medically underserved and vulnerable populations include, but are not limited to, racial and ethnic minorities, residents in rural communities, under- or uninsured, and immigrant residents.
Qualifications/ Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicant must be a high school senior, college student, or part of a health care certificate program.
- Applicant must be from Windham or New London counties, CT with intentions on returning to the area to work and improve community health.
- Applicant must submit transcripts
- All applicants must submit a personal statement (500 words or less) that summarizes how public health and/or vulnerable populations fit into their overall work. The personal statement should illustrate what the applicant plans to do upon their return to Eastern Connecticut after graduation and how they will help the community.
Submission deadline is yearly on July 1st. Awards will be announced no later than August 1st.
