The Collegiate Health Service Corps (CHSC) is a 10-week, 20hour service-learning opportunity in the fall and spring semesters for college students interested in pursuing a career in healthcare. Students explore health careers, promote preventative health care, and address the needs of medically underserved communities at a statewide level. Participants have the opportunity to attend a trip to the UCONN Medical School and participate in HEC events.
Program Goals:
- Strengthen bridges between underserved or at-risk populations and mainstream health systems, social organizations, and health institutions
- Provide service-learning opportunities to offer health promotion, disease prevention education, and interactive training to community members
- Work towards future primary health care career goals
