The Health Education Center’s Interprofessional Education (IPE) Program develops and maintains collaborative partnerships with clinicians, health profession students, and local organizations in Connecticut to improve the care of patients, the health of the most vulnerable residents and the cost of care. Free walk-in clinics hosted for residents that have trouble accessing health care. Health profession students work together, under the supervision of licensed clinicians, to practice culturally appropriate communication skills while coordinating services with diverse populations. The IPE Program sites each offer community-based experiential training for students and access to care for the community.

Program Goals

  • Offer community-based clinical opportunities for health students from two or more disciplines to work collaboratively to provide patient-centered care.
  • Create multidisciplinary teams in an environment of mutual respect to understand and combat social determinants of health in the local community.
  • Provide health education and chronic disease self-management programs.
  • Prepare the next generation of health profession students to work with vulnerable populations.

Hundreds of students are loving our programs & trust HEC.
