The Community Interpreter Program establishes a foundation for all community interpreters by providing specialized training in community interpreting. An interpreter learns cultural systems that make communication skills pertinent to healthier and safer lifestyles as well as expertise in the code of ethics, modes, and techniques of community interpreting.
Our Community Interpreter Program has been reviewed by the International Medical Interpreter Association (IMIA). A certificate from the Health Education Center in Community Interpreting meets the educational requirements to become a qualified interpreter. Community interpreting is a rapidly growing profession and graduates work anywhere community services are offered including, but not limited to educational and social services interpreting.
